If you come to enjoy the weather and play some golf over the next couple of days you may notice a weird smell coming from the greens. Last week the staff applied an organic fertilizer on the greens that is black in color. The all natural, colored fertilizer helps the greens to absorb heat and begin to grow sooner than mother nature would allow. The same situation applies when we wear black shirts out on a hot sunny day in which the sun’s rays are amplified on a black shirt versus having a cooler white shirt on. The organic fertilizer is just another tool to trick the greens in thinking it is a nice hot day and we should grow. Unfortunately the fertilizer does come with a funky smell, but should only last about a week.
