The renovation of the irrigation pond on #16 has been rescheduled for the fall of 2013. Over the next couple weeks we have a proposed fix that is not long-term, but it has the potential to stop or at least drastically reduce the leak in the short-term for a minimum cost. We will be using a product called bentonite. This product is a clay material that is designed to swell and expand when water is present, potentially clogging the leak. The Bentonite will be spread across the pond sides and tilled into pond clay to mix.
We have moved in this direction after some additional research we found with a different type of liner that offers a lifetime guarantee. The original rubber liner is also a great choice and could be lifetime as well, but factory warranty is only 25 years. This new sprayable liner will require less equipment and damage to the course to prep the pond. We will keep you updated as we progress and research the new liner from other clubs in the area that have renovated in this same fashion.
