To date, our greens are currently 74 days old. Over the past several weeks we have been witness to great bentgrass growing conditions (60F – 85F air temperatures) and have had good success with pushing the greens further to completion. The new greens have progressed well and are at the state of growth anticipated, for their current age. Clipping yields have been abundant and still actively growing until colder temperatures set in.
Currently the greens are 90-95% covered with an average of 5” roots.
During the next several months of cold weather, growth will be limited until favorable conditions return in the spring where roots can reach 12” deep and 100% coverage. I am happy to report we are progressing properly and where anticipated for the age of the greens. It takes all our cooperation to look out for the safety of the greens and staying off the putting surface during the colder months of frost and freeze periods.
